O.k., I don’t actually know that he dies. I just really think he’s going to die. I don’t stalk the Harry Potter chat boards or anything. I don’t even know where they are on the internet, just that they exist. So, this isn’t an opinion I have that has been strongly influenced by anything other than my own reading of the books.
Since the last book is coming out in a few days I thought I should reread all of the other books. Well, I’ve reread the first two. Since I also need to read Beowulf by Thursday I have decided to skip books three, four and five and am now a couple of chapters in to book six.
All this rereading has just reinforced what I’ve thought since first reading book five: Harry is going to die. I hope I’m wrong. Really.
Remember in book one, in the forbidden forest, when Quirrel/Voldemort tries to attack Harry and the centaur saves him? And then two other centaurs get all huffy and tell the the first one that he shouldn’t interfere with what has been written in the stars? And then the first centaur said the stars have been misread before and he hopes that is the case this time, and then he wishes Harry luck? Right. Obviously it is written in the stars that Harry is going to die facing Voldemort. That is what the other two thought he interfered wtih. And, of course, there is Dumbledore talking about death, to the well ordered mind, being nothing more than the next great adventure. Granted, that was probably foreshadowing his own demise, but really, adventure? Harry? Harry? Adventure? 2+2=4?
Then, in book two, at the end, when Harry and Dumbledore are talking about Harry being able to speak parsletongue? And Dumbledore says Voldemort accidentally left part of himself in Harry? If you put that in the context of book six and all of the Horcrux thingies, just what, or who, do you think the last Horcrux is going to be? 2+2=Harry? Correct me if I’m wrong, because I’m not far into rereading the sixth book, but don’t all of the Horcrux things have to be destroyed?
*Sigh* I hope I’m wrong.
On a more uplifting note, McH spoke with our program coordinator yesterday and either I misunderstood her last email, or paperwork has been gathered much more quickly than expected, or both, because it looks like it is still very possible that we will have a referral in August. Maybe even early August, though I’m not getting my hopes up. Well, o.k., I’m hoping, but I’m not holding my breath. How’s that?
And George, if you’re out there, Tewt the Newt says Accio George!
