I was asked to speak at church today. I’ve spoken many, many times on Mother’s Day, but this was my first Father’s Day talk. I was left with about 25 minutes to fill, but I won’t bore you with the entire thing. I’ll just share my favorite part:
President Hinckley once said, “The girl you marry will take a terrible chance on you . . .” so now I ask you today, on Father’s Day, how’s that working out for her?
You’d think they would stop asking me to speak, wouldn’t you? But the branch president actually thanked me afterwards and used words like, “excellent” and “superb” (or something like that) to describe my talk. Huh.
Now I am going to share a touching Father’s Day video produced by our church, and that will count as my Mormon Monday post for the week, even though this is Sunday.
Tomorrow, time permitting, I shall tell you how I pimp my children out for Two-liters.
And George, if you’re out there, Tewt the Newt says Happy Father’s Day to all the dads.
