Groundhog Day 2011

It looks like this outside right now:

groundhog day 2001

So I woke up that lazy groundhog that’s been freeloading around here for far too long . . .

Phullabaloney 2001

. . . He took one look out the window and began muttering about how there was no frappin’ way he was going to go out there and freeze his . . . umm . . . groundhogness off, then he kinda growled a few other choice words at me before starting his obscenity laden tirade about how even a chimney sweep could tell you nobody could see their shadow in that mess anyway, so why the hell bother?

Mary Poppins he is not.

And you know what?  I don’t need it.  I have a teenager in the house already.  So after years of his uppitiness, insolence, and verbal abuse . . . well, I’d had enough.

I booted him out the door and told him he could do his damn job or find somebody else to put up with his crap.

He’s now having a bit of a pout on the garden wall, and I can tell you for a fact that there is no shadow.

So Phullabaloney Fill’s official prediction, whether he likes it or not, is that spring will be here early.

Almost makes the ugliness of this morning worth it.

  1. Oh how I have missed Phullabaloney Fill! 🙂 Now, where is Blue Barb?! Glad you’re surviving Snowpocalypse 2011 with your sense of humor intact. It is finally sunny this morning, if not warm. I don’t think it will thaw out here any time soon…but I do have some news that is warming me up. Head over to my private blog to catch up! 🙂

  2. Well, listen to you with your salty language! Damn? Hell? You sound more like me than your usual good-girl, Mormon self. I guess we know where Fill picked up his penchant for the obscenities. If you threw in a few of your favorite references to cooters, we’d almost have PG13 rated post.

Love the pictures!! You’re so funny. I wish you were right next door (instead of the crabby, old, child-hating bat and her alcoholic boyfriend who currently live next to me). I’d have you over for hot chocolate and let you make me laugh all afternoon while I make the kids do all my chores. Oh, you can’t have hot chocolate, can you? …We’d have a glass of water and millet (after you tell me what that is).

  4. I was wondering if Phullabaloney Fill was going to show up today. Glad he did & I like his prediction.

Is he still answering questions because I’d like to know if my hubby will finally make it home tomorrow. As Middle Kid reminded me today, it’s been 20 days & that’s just about long enough!

Oh! I am SO happy Phil showed up! I used to read his posts to my oldest daughter (she’s 16 now) and she loves Phulabollony Phil (sp?). Yesterday as we discussed what Groundhog’s day is about to my 13 year old daughter adopted from Ukraine, my oldest said, “Well my favorite is Phulabalony Phil! He’s hilarious! Maybe he’ll make an appearance tomorrow!” I can’t wait to show this post to her! Thank you for waking him up. Hopefully he’ll repent soon and be allowed back into the warmth of the house. He seems quite accustomed to the finer things of life.

Phil!! I’ve missed him!! And I was totally thinking of him on his day, though I never managed to get around to checking your blog…

Thanks for making the groundhog go outside for us – and I sure hope he’s right on that prediction. Though I gotta say, the whole thing makes NO sense. No sun =no shadow = early spring??? whaaa? Wouldn’t the presence of SUN make spring come sooner?!!
